You’ll be addicted!! Squid fishing!!

Hi guys,How are you doing? I’m Shoji Matsumoto.
What is the world’s favorite fishing target?
I believe it is squid, although the species vary from region to region.

 

We can fish squid in a wide area, and squid fishing has high playabilioty.
Plus, it’s delicious to eat, so you’d go for it, wouldn’t you?
Squid fishing is called ”Eging” in Japan.
You can catch squid almost all year round if you don’t choose the species.

 

Among various squid fishing, the one I will tell you about is called IkaMetal fishing.

 

 

I use two types of lures,floating lures(we are called “Uki Sutte”) and heavy lures(we are called “Namari Sutte”).
It’s very simple. Simply tie these two lures to a triple swivel.
I definitely use IkaMetal leader SV-1 at that time.

The action is very simple.
Drop the lure to the range where squid and move the rod up and down, stopping occasionally.
Basically, this is how you catch them.
When the squid is active, the lure will stop midway when it is falling, so hooking it immediately.
In addition, by slowly reeling after hooked it, a chance for a double hit is created.

 

Here’s some tips to increase your catch when squid activity is low↓↓
・Lengthen the upper leader.
・Cast the lure and aim a curved fall of the lure.
・Lighten the lead weight.
Please try this approach‼It’s sure to increase your catch!

 

It is also important to choose a PE line and a leader which have high sensitivity.
I mainly use PE Egi HS series and PE Jigger ULT series.
Their high sensitivity and durability are advantages.

Leaders can be fluorocarbon, but for this type of fishing, ester leaders are recommended.
The best feature of the Ester leader is stiffness! That’s why leaders don’t tangle with each other!
The lure keep to drifts nicely, which ensures better fishing results.
It is also more sensitive than fluorocarbon, so even small bites are transmitted to the hand.
